The rear exhaust heat protection in carbon for the BMW R 1200 GS (LC) replaces the original component using the original attachment points. The main focus is on weight savings (usually a saving of around 70% compared to the original component) and greater rigidity.
For this carbon part, which is subject to high thermal stress, we use special high-temperature prepreg (see FAQ) to avoid discoloration and yellowing.
The carbon part was manufactured entirely from prepreg (see FAQ) material in an autoclave according to the latest guidelines and in the next step, as is our usual practice, was coated with a clear plastic coating to protect it against environmental influences.
This plastic coating surpasses the usual clear varnish coating in terms of protection, scratch resistance and durability. But the coating not only scores points technically, it also clearly underlines the three-dimensional effect of the carbon structure.
Rear Silencer Protector Carbon - BMW R 1200 GS (LC from 2013)
This part is a direct replacement for the original component and contributes mainly to weight saving on the motorcycle (up to 70% less) and a higher stiffness of the parts.
For this, thermal stressed, carbon part, we use special high-temperature prepreg material (see FAQ) to avoid burning and staining of the part.
Like all of our carbon fiber parts, it was made according to the latest protocols and industry standards and can be considered to encompass all aspects of current 'best of industry' practice. The part is made completely out of pre-preg carbon fiber materials using an autoclave. As with all our carbon parts, we use a clear plastic coating that not only improves the appearance, but also protects the carbon fiber from scratching and has a unique UV resistance.
